About the Role

The Program Lead, Early Stage Startups at EnergyLab will be responsible for leading and delivering three early-stage programs; Climate Tech Ignite (ideation program), Climate Tech Lab to Market (research commercialisation) and Climate Tech Charge (pre-accelerator program) that were originally launched in 2023/2024.

Climate Tech Ignite is a 8-week program supporting aspiring and early-stage founders to generate, test and launch their startup idea. The program runs once per year with one cohort supporting individuals eager to explore a startup idea (Climate Tech Ignite).

Climate Tech Lab to Market is a 9 week program focused specifically on supporting researchers looking to commercialise decarbonisation technologies (Climate Tech Lab to Market).

Climate Tech Charge is an ‘always-on’ program supporting startups to build traction, connect with investors and acquire seed funding. Founders join the program for a 12-month period to access weekly workshops, mentorship and opportunities to pitch to the EnergyLab angel group.

Taking charge of these programs, the Program Lead will continue to build on EnergyLab's reputation of delivering amazing programs by finding leading startups and founders to participate, creating strong working relationships with the program partners and the startups, and ensuring the program exceeds all expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Find and recruit amazing entrepreneurs, researchers and startups to participate in the programs
  • Run a high-quality programs
  • Ensure startup participants are receiving the support they need to succeed
  • Ensure program partners and other stakeholders are achieving their goals for the programs
  • Utilise and promote EnergyLab’s mentor network
  • Help with other key EnergyLab activities as required

About You

  • You may prior experience in one more of the following - startup support, project management, communications, the energy industry, decarbonisation or sustainability
  • You may be a professional with 3-5 years of experience looking for a challenge and somewhere you can have a positive impact on the world.
  • You may have a background in renewable energy or sustainability or have used your engineering or entrepreneurial skills to create something brilliant or are just really passionate about climate and sustainability.
  • You are great at building relationships in person, over email, on the phone or via Zoom, it doesn't matter to you, as you can build rapport and create a relationship no matter the situation.
  • You love being organised and know how to break a big task into its little activities and can get things back on the rails if something unexpected pops up.
  • You're very open to feedback on what you have delivered - positive, negative or constructive and use it to improve your approach for next time.
  • You love being part of a team, will be the first to offer to help another team member and enjoy sharing in others’ success.
  • You are used to working both remotely and in the office and are a digital native when it comes to working with the latest business tools - Gsuite, Slack, Zoom, Calendly, Mailchimp, Monday and whatever comes next.

Key details

Location: Both In EnergyLab's Sydney headquarters and working remotely as suits the requirement of the role. The successful candidate must be able to travel and work in EnergyLab’s Sydney HQ in Haymarket as needed.

Position: Fixed Term to end March 2027 (Extension subject to funding from the NSW Government).
