WHAT WE Do

We are calling for expressions of interest from individuals who would like to join our Board as Non-Executive Directors. CASS, our brand name, is a not-for-profit multicultural social and welfare services provider.

We are comprised of several registered charities and our first entity was formed in 1981. CASS provides a wide range of community services, including home aging support, residential aged care, child care disability, vocational training, settlement assistance, health, and etc, tailored to meet the needs of multicultural communities like Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Indonesian, as well as the broader public.

Our services cover a wide geographical area including Metropolitan Sydney, Wollongong, and expanding in Victoria! We are a company limited by guarantee, a Public Benevolent Institution and an approved provider for aged care, NDIS, child care and settlement services.

Our mission and vision are – to provide high quality services for people of all ages, from new born to late life – always the first choice of service users and their family members

Our purpose is - to dedicate to serve the community.

THE ROLE

This is a volunteer position. CASS is seeking candidates to join our board who has a clear understanding of the role of a Board member, at least five work/board experience in local not-for-profit sectors, and demonstrated commitment to overseeing quality care services for multicultural communities.

CASS is looking for candidates with one or more of the following essential skill sets:

  • Leadership skills in the local not-for-profit sector
  • Legal
  • Risk management
  • Strategic Planning
  • Aged Care Services management
  • Disability Services management
  • Child Care Services management
  • Public relations/marketing
  • Technology/IT
  • Construction/engineering
  • Corporate/clinical governance
  • Human resources management

TIME COMMITMENT

Board members are expected to attend monthly board meetings and to read board materials in advance of meetings to enable active participation. Board meetings are often held on weekend daytime. Face-to-face attendance at meetings is preferable, with online participation as a secondary option. Board members will also responsibly represent CASS in the community and advocate for CASS mission, programs and services as appropriate.

duration of role

Board terms are for 12 months (renewable, subject to the Society’s Board approval) from the date of the AGM. The next AGM will be held in November 2024. Terms are renewable, subject to the Society’s Board approval.

selection process

A selection committee will assess applications on the criteria listed. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified and scheduled interviews. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so early submissions are encouraged.
