The Intake and Brief Intervention Worker is an integral part of the service provision team at CASV. Providing high quality brief counselling and support to women, transgender, non-binary & gender diverse people aged 12 years and over who have experienced past or sexual assault in Logan or Redlands and Beaudesert.

Working within the guidelines of CASV’s policies and procedures, strategic plan and operational plan, this position includes:

  • High quality, crisis response, assessment and triaging skills to assess safety and stability, and readiness for counselling to women, transgender, non-binary & gender diverse people 12 years and over, within the Logan and Redlands regions who have been impacted by Sexual Violence.
  • Provide brief intervention, referrals, advocacy, psychoeducation, brief-counselling and practical supports to build resilience and support women, transgender and gender diverse people, 12 years and over with immediate needs and to promote safety and stability to being their healing journey.

Position Requirements:

  • Qualifications in Social and Behavioural Sciences, Counselling, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience in sexual assault or domestic and family violence counselling/crisis intervention is highly desirable with an ability to articulate your understanding and implementation of trauma informed practice and principles’
  • Identify with and be able to work within a feminist framework.
  • Work within a participatory model of decision making, planning and evaluation
  • Possession of a current "C" class driver’s licence.
  • Possession of or willingness to obtain a Positive Blue Card.

Key selection criteria

  • SC1. Demonstrated possession of tertiary qualifications, experience and/or understanding of working in the delivery of counselling services to address/respond to violence against women and children.
  • SC2. Comprehensive understanding of the causes and effects of sexual violence against women.
  • SC3. Well-developed framework for the provision of high-quality intake and crisis intervention services to Women of diverse backgrounds and ability to assess risk and safety.
  • SC4 Highly developed organisation/ time management and recording keeping skills and understanding of consent and limitations and information sharing guidelines and legislation related to Sexual Assault.
  • SC5. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, and the capacity to deliver information to a broad cross section of people.
  • SC6. Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of participative decision-making; planning and evaluation processes; effective team practices; and the principles of social justice.
