About the role:

CatholicCare’s services are expanding, and our staff numbers are growing! This is a perfect opportunity for a motivated HR professional to join a well-established organisation, working with a supportive team of People and Culture professionals and take on a new challenge.

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Human Resources (HR) Advisor to join our People & Culture (P&C) Team on a full-time, permanent basis. The successful incumbent will provide a wide range of HR and Industrial Relations (IR) support and advice to the operational business units within CatholicCare to improve the capabilities and performance of both individuals and teams.

To be successful in this role, you will be a highly customer focused individual, able to build, develop & nurture strong stakeholder relationships, be resilient and work collaboratively with the team to provide effective HR advise across the entire employee lifecycle. The role is based out of the Pennant Hills Head Office. We support work life balance and have flexible work agreement in place.

Key responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Provide consistent, quality and timely advice & support to CatholicCare Managers and staff on a wide range of HR activities.
  • Support Leaders and their teams to deliver pro-active people management initiatives and strategies.
  • Provide advice on policies and procedures and help interpret relevant legislation and Awards.
  • Prepare a range of employee contracts and changes as required.
  • Input and analyse regular monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc workforce monitoring and planning reports.
  • Any other administrative tasks as directed by the Manager.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Minimum 1 year experience in a HR Advisory role.
  • Experience in interpreting and applying employee related legislation, awards, and policy.
  • Thorough knowledge of Modern Awards, the Fair Work Act and National Employment Standards.
  • Experience using a HRIS/HRMS, including reporting and analysis.
  • Commitment to best practice HR service delivery, support and the tenacity to follow up.
  • Demonstrated genuine customer service focus and commitment with a positive 'can-do' attitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities to deliver against agreed deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated competency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Highly developed organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Established aptitude to show initiative and follow matters through to completion.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable criteria:

  • Tertiary qualification in a business discipline such as Human Resources, Industrial Relations or equivalent and demonstrated experience in a similar role within an NGO, NFP or social welfare organisation.
  • Knowledge of the following Moderns Awards (desirable but not essential):
    • Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award (SCHADS)
    • Children's Services Award
    • Educational Services (Teachers) Award
    • Health Professionals and Support Services Award
