About the role

The Safety Action Meeting (SAM) Coordinator organises, facilitates and coordinates one of the two SAM’s in the Northern Sydney area bringing together service providers to lessen the serious risk, to achieve safer pathways for high risk women and children impacted by domestic and family violence.

This position works within our Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (WDVCAS) which provides support, advocacy, referrals and information for women experiencing domestic violence.

This is a fixed-term contract available until 30th June 2025, working 35 hours per week. Role is Artarmon based with a requirement to travel between sites and courts or meetings as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinating and monitoring Safety Action Meetings in the WDVCAS area. This includes secretariat support for the Safety Action Meetings, such as developing agendas and recording actions agreed and safety action plans.
  • Liaise with clients in relation to Safety Action Plans developed at Safety Action Meetings and / or appropriate support provided.
  • Assist the WDVCAS to comply with reporting and other requirements;
  • Participating in relevant community engagement activities.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated understanding of the dynamics, complexities and legal and social welfare consequences of domestic and family violence.
  • Understanding of the criminal justice response to domestic violence including AVO applications and criminal prosecutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with key stakeholders and relevant agency personnel.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in negotiation, advocacy and conflict resolution;
  • Current NSW Driver’s License and access to an insured vehicle.
