ROLE

As Philanthropy and Partnerships Lead, your role is responsible for securing and managing major donor, trust & foundation, and corporate support to ensure the continued growth of ActionAid Australia’s philanthropy program.
Reporting to the Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager you will build relationships with existing donors to solicit gifts, lead the development of proposals and pitches, build the prospect pipeline and cultivate a portfolio of donors working closely with the Executive Director and Philanthropy & Partnerships Manager. This role is also responsible for the associated reporting and administration.
You will also have the opportunity to step up into Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager position from April 2025 – December 2025. This role will be operating at strategic level and will include acquisition of new major donors, the development of retention strategies, impact reporting, and donor journey mapping.
The role will suit someone with demonstrated experience in major donor cultivation and stewardship looking to further develop their skills. You are confident speaking with donors and able to create authentic donor relationships. You will work across multiple revenue streams and join an organisation at an exciting time of investment, while knowing you work creates positive impact for women living in poverty around the world..
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and build portfolio of high value & prospect donors, ensuring regular meetings, delivery of pitches and asks, and updates on ActionAid’s work globally and in Australia.
- Implement stewardship strategy to strengthen relationships with existing major donors.
- Maintain and develop individual cultivation strategies for donors
- Work with senior colleagues or peer to peer volunteers to solicit gifts through face to-face meetings.
- Design and execute initiatives to enhance major donor satisfaction, loyalty and impact reporting.
- Create and execute a suite of engagement activities and events
- Work closely with Programs and Campaigns Team to research, craft, and submit grant proposals and compelling concept notes, ensuring timely submission of applications and concepts.
- Lead on the day-to-day relationship management of a set of AAA’s fundraising partnerships with philanthropists and corporates, including pitch and proposal development, preparation of partnership agreements and development of tailored s working alongside the Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager and other stakeholders.
- Work with relevant colleagues in Australia and in-country partners to prepare proposals and budgets.
- Prepare timely impact reports for philanthropic partners in accordance with reporting requirements.
YOUR SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
- A commitment to ActionAid’s mission and values, including advancing women’s rights.
- Demonstrated experience in major donor cultivation and/or grant fundraising, stewardship and relationship management.
- Strong communication and social skills (written and verbal) with ability to articulate complex ideas in an clear and accessible way, pitch with confidence and write compelling proposals and donor reports
- Demonstrated experience working in philanthropy and securing multi-year funding from major donors/corporates
- Understanding of good practices and trends within philanthropy, ideally within an international development or advocacy context
- A high degree of initiative and self-driven with the ability to work co-operatively and flexibly with others, both within and outside the organisation
- Effective teamwork and collaboration.
- Excellent networking, relationship building and influencing skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders at a variety of levels.
