CAWLS is a busy community legal practice with a vibrant and dedicated team committed to providing representation and excellent outcomes for our clients through law reform, legal advice and representation, community legal education and outreach. Many of our clients are women who have experienced or are experiencing Domestic and Family violence.

CAWLS is seeking a self-motivated candidate to assist the Education Manager to develop an exciting new project supporting implementation of the NT Health Clinical Guidelines within Alice Springs Hospital .

Crucial in your success in this role is your highly developed written and verbal communication skills and ability to work autonomously as well as within a team environment.

Total effective package includes: base salary, superannuation, leave loading, relocation assistance and salary packaging options.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The primary objectives of the role are to;

  • Support implementation of the NT Health Clinical Guidelines for culturally safe DFSV practice within Alice Springs Hospital (the DFSV clinical guideline), including through co-location at Alice Springs Hospital.
  • Build capacity of NT Health DFSV interventions by training and supporting staff at Alice Springs Hospital including Doctors, Nurses, Midwives, Aboriginal liaison and Aboriginal Health Practitioners, Allied Health and translator staff.
  • Provide guidance and support to embed the principles underpinning the Northern Territory Government Risk Assessment and Management Framework (RAMF) into health practice at Alice Springs Hospital.
  • Support Alice Springs Hospital to improve patient transitions in and out of hospital, including through strengthening NT Health referral pathways and processes.
  • Work with the Education and Policy Manager and CAWLS Management Team for the overall success of the implementation of the NT Health Clinical Guidelines, fulfilling obligations pursuant to funding agreements and ensuring the service is compliant with all regulatory requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Work with NT Health to develop and co-deliver training schedules for prioritised staff.
  • Promote and facilitate access to the DFSV Clinical Guideline training, products and communication tools to NT Health staff and external service providers.
  • Support the development of communities of practice and provide reflective practice mentoring where appropriate.
  • Facilitate information sharing between relevant participating health teams.
  • Contribute to strengthened internal and external patient referral pathways to support responses that better meet the social emotional health and wellbeing needs of patients.
  • Engage in and facilitate staff participation in continuous quality improvement activities, evaluation data collection activities and record and report progress on activities as required.
  • Undertake training/professional development in consultation with the Education & Policy Manager and/or Senior Management Team.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this position, you will have;

  • A Bachelor degree in a relevant health discipline/social services or law and/or substantial experience operating within the DFSV sector.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAA40104 or TAE40110) or equivalent, and/or degree.
  • Postgraduate experience in providing contemporary advanced clinical services responding to domestic, family and sexual violence and demonstrated comprehensive understanding of culturally safe practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, implement and evaluate clinical education and training activities.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the dynamics of domestic, family and sexual violence as it affects women and children.
  • Experience as an adult educator and/or facilitator with excellent public speaking skills;
  • Well-developed communication, interpersonal skills, negotiation and conflict management skills, with experience working with multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • High level planning and time management skills including the demonstrated ability to prioritise and complete tasks within expected timeframes and an understanding of the principles of quality improvement and patient safety.
  • Personal commitment to reflection and self-care to build resilience and minimise the impact of vicarious trauma.

The successful candidate must have a Current (NT) Driver’s License, NT Ochre Card & Criminal History check (or the ability to obtain).
