We are seeking passionate and dedicated Abortion Care Educators to join our team, working to transform healthcare practices and champion compassionate, stigma-free abortion care across Queensland.

This pivotal role will deliver values-based, stigma-reducing training to healthcare professionals, including doctors, midwives, radiographers, sonographers, and support staff. By promoting values clarification, addressing barriers posed by conscientious objection, and advocating for patient-centered care, this role directly impacts the lives of women and pregnant people seeking abortion services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver targeted education and training to diverse healthcare teams, focusing on reducing stigma and improving care for patients seeking terminations.
  • Facilitate transformative discussions with healthcare providers around values clarification, overcoming bias, and building compassionate care environments.
  • Regularly travel across Queensland to deliver training programs in hospitals, clinics, and health centers.
  • Collaborate with a broad network of health professionals and other key stakeholders to advocate for improved access to reproductive healthcare.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through surveys and feedback, using data to shape and enhance future training efforts.
  • Contribute to the development of new training materials and resources, ensuring content is evidence-based and aligned with best practices in reproductive healthcare.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A qualification in Nursing, Midwifery, Social Work, Human Services or Teaching.
  • Demonstrated experience / interest in reproductive health, women’s health, feminist practice or abortion care.
  • Proven ability to deliver training, workshops, or educational programs, ideally in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience working within Queensland Health is highly regarded.
  • A strong commitment to reproductive rights and the ability to address stigma and conscientious objection barriers in healthcare.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and love of collaboration, with the ability to engage diverse teams in meaningful, values-based dialogue.
  • Willingness to travel frequently across the state.
