About the role

The People Experience Specialist, Volunteers role partners with internal stakeholders to support best practice volunteer management through the delivery of advice and coaching. This role will support the broader volunteer management group to build an engaged and highly capable volunteer workforce who contribute to the effective delivery of Cancer Council services, events and activities.

The People Experience Specialist, Volunteers will further contribute to and/or lead division wide volunteering projects that support the strategic objectives and business needs of the organisation.

This role will be a maximum term contract until September 2025.

Key responsibilities of the role

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with key roles across the organisation to support best practice volunteer management.
  • Support volunteer managers by providing trusted advice and coaching that supports the effective management of volunteers and supports Cancer Council in the delivery of services, activities, events and fundraising initiatives.
  • Support the development and implementation of the volunteer workforce plan.
  • Support volunteer managers to maintain volunteer records and other reporting requirements to ensure volunteer compliance
  • Contribute and deliver consistent and trusted communications to key stakeholders, including Volunteer Managers and volunteers.
  • Support division wide volunteering projects that have a positive impact on the volunteer experience at Cancer Council.
  • Ensure Cancer Council is an inspirational place to volunteer through the support of recognition and learning and development opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities to share the impact of volunteering to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Adhere to all CCNSW internal policies and external legislations i.e Privacy Act, PCI Compliance, Charitable Fundraising Act requirements, financial controls etc.
  • Contribute to the documentation of internal policies and processes.

About you

Essential

  • Experience working with others to provide advice and coaching
  • Experienced in developing and/or delivering communications
  • Understanding of current best practice in volunteering
  • Demonstrated success in the growth of a volunteer workforce
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver group training sessions
  • Well-developed organisation and project administration skills
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure, work to tight deadlines and manage competing priorities and multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as undertake self-directed work
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to ensure a positive experience for volunteer supporters with a diversity of experiences and backgrounds
  • High level computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite

Desirable

  • Understanding of, and commitment to, the charitable sector
  • Demonstrated understanding of working with priority populations
