About us:

Incorporated in April 1984, CLCAC was established in Burketown to represent the rights & interests of Traditional Owners. Our members are drawn from nine language groups whose traditional lands & waters are located in the lower Gulf of Carpentaria. As the recognised Native Title Service Provider for the lower Gulf of Carpentaria region, CLCAC performs statutory functions in accordance with the provisions of the Native Title Act 1993.

An elected Board, representing each of the nine language groups, determines CLCAC’s priorities, setting the strategic goals and objectives and ensuring a strong governance structure is maintained at all times. Our CEO is responsible for the day-to-day management of the operations of the Corporation, ensuring CLCAC is achieving its strategic objectives and the goals of the Corporation, as set by the board, are being met.

CLCAC supports native title, PBC capacity & economic development and land & environment programs over land and waters in the lower Gulf region and incorporating the townships of Moungibi (Burketown), Doomadgee, Normanton, Gregory and Gununa (Mornington Island).

The Opportunity:

As the HR Coordinator you will support Management in the promotion and adherence of CLCAC’s principals, values and policies and assist in the development and implementation of HR strategies and initiatives aligned to CLCAC’s overall business strategy.

You will support staff to develop strong, working relationships with their managers and colleagues alike, encourage healthy conversations, assist in the promotion of and adherence to CLCAC’s Policies and Procedures and design, implement and facilitate employee wellness programs to support employee wellbeing in the workplace.

Whilst always maintaining confidentiality and ensuring the protection of personal information, you will be responsible for the coordination and administration of all Human Resources activities and programs relating to recruitment, onboarding and payroll and provide efficient HR support to Managers and Employees in a safe, professional and timely manner.

The ideal candidate for this role will be some who is focussed on fostering positive relationships within the workplace, has a qualification as a HR Generalist with experience in a similar role. You will have a keen an eye for detail, excellent communication skills, be highly organised with a proven ability to multitask and work to deadlines.

Eligibility / Skills / Qualifications / Experience:

Essential:

  • Bachelor of Business (Human Resources) or similar Tertiary level Human Resources Qualification
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience as a Human Resources Administrator
  • Proven ability to interpret legislations, regulations and awards together with policies and procedures
  • Background knowledge of workplace relations, work health and safety and Worker’s Compensation laws and practices
  • Knowledge of Working with Children (Blue Card Services) Qld legislation and application processes
  • Experience in Payroll
  • Proficiency in the use of MYOB
  • Manual C Class Driver’s license.
  • Willing to obtain National Police clearance

Desirable:

  • Certificate IV in OH&S or equivalent
  • Experience in developing and reviewing policies and procedures
  • Experience working with Indigenous people.

What we offer:

The position is a full-time position and based in the Cairns Office. This position will involve irregular travel throughout the lower Gulf of Carpentaria region.

  • Salary Range: $86,242, to $93,964 (Level 3.1 to Level 3.4 Professional Salary) per annum depending on qualifications and experience;
  • CLCAC is a Private Benevolent Institution and generous Salary Sacrifice and Meal Entertainment Benefits are available;
  • Generous Leave entitlements, including 5 weeks annual leave and up to two weeks paid Christmas shutdown;
  • Generous Long Service Leave entitlement of 13 weeks after 7 years of continuous service.
