About Community Legal WA

As the peak body for the community legal sector in WA, Community Legal WA is charged with building capacity and expertise, and promoting effectiveness and efficiency, across our 26 member centres. Through law reform campaigns, advocacy, projects, operational support and community and legal professional education, our staff contribute to a variety of human rights and social justice projects.

About the Role

The Communications and Events Officer is a new fixed term position that will support an exciting new initiative, the Family and Domestic Violence Legal Health Check Project. This project will work with community legal centres and community service organisations supporting women experiencing family and domestic violence across the state to:

  • Be trained in the Legal Health Check tool
  • Develop local referral pathways and collaborative relationships across sectors
  • Increase capacity of Community Legal Centres (CLCs) to respond to referrals

This is a strategically significant project for CLWA which will require a high level of competence in this role across attention to detail, communications and events coordination.

This position will support the project, responsible for developing the content for all communications including social media. This position will lead in providing event coordination and support, working closely with the Project Manager. With excellent communication skills, you will have a strong focus on building relationships and collaboration with member CLCs and community service.

Do You Have What We Are Looking For?

To fill this varied and exciting role, we are looking for candidates with:

  • Qualifications in a relevant area such as communications, marketing, public relations or similar and/or marketing, communications and/or public relations experience
  • Experience with developing social media content
  • Technical skills to use and administer social media and websites
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and secure the buy-in of a variety of stakeholders
  • Experience in the community sector, with experience in and understanding of family and domestic violence or community legal sectors is desirable
