About the role
The Employee Relations Manager is responsible for the provision of leadership and high-level advice and direction on employee and industrial relations services and related activities and matters. The role acts as a key business partner CPA's business areas and manages the provision of day-to-day operational expertise and guidance to ensure legislative and HR best practice compliance.
Managing a small team of ER professionals, providing leadership, guidance and coaching to ensure timely, effective resolution of complex IR/ER issues. This is a hands on role in a large complex business, with regular involvement in various initiatives across remuneration benchmarking, people experience, DEI and employee engagement
Duties include
- Lead an advisory team of four, ensuring they are equipped to effectively support leaders with a wide range of people matters
- Provide expertise, guidance and coaching to managers to ensure compliance with legislative requirements, to resolve complex ER matters
- Manage the design and development of policies, procedures and training to ensure compliance and to help build leadership capability
- Collaborate with key managers on attraction, retention, employee development and engagement strategies to identify opportunities to make the organisation an employer of choice
- Provide representation of the organisation at industrial tribunals and external forums
- Drive the implementation of initiatives and practices that ensures the team effectively engages with and support changes across the organisation
- Partner, support and monitor industrial instruments including the development and implementation of agreed industrial instruments for new and existing projects to ensure compliance with workplace laws
- Lead various projects, ensuring project performance and delivery within agreed timelines and budget
- Build and maintain relationships with key internal stakeholders to successfully effect changes to policies and procedures
- Develop and manage interactions with unions and other industrial bodies to maintain constructive relationships
About you:
- Extensive experience in the field of Human Resources, working autonomously at a senior level
- Relevant Bachelor's Degree or Higher Post Graduate studies in a relevant field (Human Resources, Employee Relations, Business, Law, Commerce).
- Strong leadership capability, able to coach mentor and engage a high performing team
- Ideally experience in a range of service delivery/operational sectors would be demonstrable
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple major projects at once
- Demonstrated experience in influencing and working collaboratively with employees at all levels across CPA
- Up to date knowledge on relevant employment legislation
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal working with a high level of attention to detail
