Canberra Rape Crisis Centre (CRCC)

The CRCC is a feminist, non-government, not-for-profit, incorporated association which provides confidential counselling and support in the ACT to people who have experienced any current or historic form of sexual assault and/or sexual harassment. Practical support is also provided through a crisis telephone line, crisis appointments and a 24-hour crisis call-out service for ACT Government partners (SACAT and FAMSAC).

NOTE: This is a woman-only position under s 33B of the Discrimination Act (ACT) 1991 and is a genuine occupational qualification for the position.

ROLE

The CRCC is looking for an experienced and inspiring leader who can maintain and enhance the reputation of the organisation, be a powerful advocate on sexual assault matters, manage high quality and timely delivery of services, build an exceptional staff culture, engage effectively with key stakeholders, including government partners, and develop ongoing revenue streams for financial sustainability.

We are seeking an influential and collaborative leader, who can work effectively with a small Board and manage finances, business tasks and operations while maintaining a focus on long term strategic priorities. We seek a CEO who will develop lasting, positive and effective relationships with stakeholders and staff.

This role provides a unique opportunity to strengthen and grow the CRCC’s capacity, capabilities and reputation based on feminist values of diversity, human dignity, equality, and fairness.

ABOUT YOU

You will have proven ability and experience to:

  • Effectively manage and grow a not-for-profit at CEO level
  • Relate to and influence people at all levels (e.g. Ministers, ACT Government Directorates, the Australian Federal Police and partners) and achieve high level credibility and effective relationships with stakeholders
  • Motivate, mentor and lead staff to successfully implement programs and services which manage risk and deliver overall CRCC business outcomes and maintain a positive workplace culture
  • Deliver stable and diverse revenue streams – including seeking alternative sources of revenue through government grants, philanthropic or corporate support – to maintain a strong financial position
  • Be the face of CRCC to deliver powerful advocacy in multiple forums and with high-quality written submissions
  • Analyse and report on financial statements and develop and implement a tightly focussed annual budget supported by a contracted accounting service
  • Personal interest and life experience in social policy with a focus on families, domestic and family violence, sexual violence and victim survivor wellbeing.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The successful candidate will have proven leadership skills and the ability to achieve CRCC’s mission and objectives through:

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and stakeholder management skills, and ability to advocate for change
  • Strong leadership, drive and commitment to motivate and support dedicated staff to deliver day-to-day operations, projects/programs and individual events
  • Sound business acumen and judgement and the ability to think strategically
  • Engaging positively with and providing timely, high-quality reporting to the Board
  • Strong and focused governance, legal, risk and financial management, including compliance with relevant legislation.
