ABOUT YOUR ORGANISATION

DeadlyScience is Australia's leading Indigenous STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) charity. Our vision is to create STEM equity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learners throughout Australia.

The percentage of the Australian Indigenous population with a University STEM qualification is one tenth of the Non-Indigenous population. DeadlyScience was created to address this discrepancy and to drive generational change for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through practical, grass-roots, Indigenous lead cultural safe STEM education programs.

POSITION AVAILABLE: NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR (x3)

DeadlyScience operates a volunteer skilled based Board. We are seeking three Directors with real tangible skills, experience and expertise to join the Board and support our growth and 5-year strategy, and Directors that can actively contribute to the Board and support the organisational executive to realise our objectives.

As an Indigenous lead organisation, the Board has deemed that at least two of the Board roles are to be filled by Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander persons.

While we are undertaking a skills-based selection process, it is expected all candidates will bring awareness of Indigenous culture and cultural engagement.

BOARD ENGAGEMENT EXPECTATIONS:

• Board meets 6 times per year, with additional Board Sub-Committee meetings. All meetings are virtual.
• An annual strategic planning day. This will be held face to face (most likely in Sydney).
• Directors may be asked occasionally to represent DeadlyScience at events.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

At DeadlyScience Indigenous engagement and increasing STEM equity for Indigenous learners is what we do. We are looking for potential Directors who share that passion and an ethos of increasing STEM engagement for Indigenous youth.

Based on our skills-based assessment we are seeking candidates with experience in:

• Finance and Audit
• Business Development / Fundraising / Corporate Partnerships
• Government Advocacy / Government Relations
• Communications.
