General Manager Prevention and Early Intervention

FVREE
  • Important executive leadership role scaling up our prevention and early intervention programs to expand our impact and help end violence against women.
  • Full time contract role (part time negotiable) for a three year term based in Ringwood with hybrid options available.

ABOUT FVREE and our work in Violence prevention

We are a leading specialist family violence organisation working with victim survivors and the community primarily in Eastern Melbourne. We know better than most the devastating impact of family and intimate partner violence and how critical prevention and early intervention is to break the cycle.

That’s why we have a dedicated team of skilled specialists delivering prevention and early intervention programs across Victoria and nationally, with ambitions to grow this work to reach more people and work towards our vision of a community free from violence where everyone is safe.

Our work spans three key program areas:

  • Early years – equipping early educators with the skills and tools to create early childhood settings that foster gender equality, respectful relationships, and the individuality of children.
  • Young people – working with young people to increase their understanding of respectful relationships and the confidence to be leaders for gender equality in their schools and broader community.
  • Early intervention – delivering education and training in workplaces and the community to Recognise family violence, Respond safely and Refer to specialist services for help.

Our work is underpinned by the evidence base set out in the Change the Story Framework developed by Our Watch. We believe that working towards changing community attitudes to gender, equipping people with knowledge of healthy relationships and improving the community’s ability to recognise and respond to family violence will contribute to preventing family violence and decreasing its impacts when it occurs.

About the role

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and an integral member of the Executive Leadership Team, the role is responsible for the delivery of a portfolio of programs that balance financial and social objectives, gathering evidence and developing approaches that actively contribute to best practice policy and programs in partnership with stakeholders, partners, the family violence and violence prevention sectors.

Operating like a social enterprise, this role will scale our prevention and early intervention offerings though commercial and philanthropic partnerships, achieving financially sustainable impact, and building the evidence base to advocate for changes in government policy and investment.

About you

This role will suit a progressive, entrepreneurial leader with financial acumen and a ‘start-up’ mindset. With solid experience in the health promotion or violence prevention space, you will have sophisticated partnership development and stakeholder engagement skills.

You will be perceptive, astute and discerning in spotting and leveraging the right opportunities and will work closely with a team of talented violence prevention and early intervention professionals.

You will be a naturally engaging, collaborative and authentic leader who inspires high performance and brings the discipline and enterprise management tools to deliver on a Business Plan for growth and expanded impact.

Why work with us?

  • We are a welcoming, supportive and inclusive team, driven by a shared vision of a community free from violence where everyone is safe.
  • We walk the talk on inclusion: bring your whole self to work.
  • We are a learning organisation and support our people to engage in professional development.
  • We embrace flexibility and hybrid working - whilst we believe some time together in person is critical, we know balancing life and work is important.
  • We have great benefits like parental leave, EAP and wellbeing programs.
