Team Leader

Ethni

We are Ethni

Here at Ethni, our vision is to live in a world where cultural and gender inequality no longer exists. We want a world where every young woman feels safe to step into her true power and be her own hero. To make this a reality we are creating safe and empowering spaces where young women from diverse cultural backgrounds can navigate life’s challenges, drive meaningful social change in their community, and shape a more equal world for all. We’ve been doing some amazing work, you can check it out at our website.

We are looking for a new people manager for our team.

Ethni has been operating for 6 years and has established itself as an expert and leader in working with young women from culturally diverse backgrounds. We are very proud of this. Our organisation is driven by the young women we support, and collaboration is built into everything we do. But we need someone to help move into the next stage of our evolution.

We need a leader who strongly aligns with our vision, values and models of practice and who is a passionate advocate for young women and their right to live a life of their choice.

What you’ll be doing

The key responsibilities of this role include team leadership and project oversight. It’s a busy role, but so incredibly rewarding. We’ve got a full list of the responsibilities of this role in our position description. We highly recommend that you check it out (attached below).

Who we’re looking for

Of course we want the absolute best person for this role, and we think that this person might have a mix of the following skills and experience. HOWEVER, if you have a different background with other talents and expertise that you think would mean you could thrive in this role, we encourage you to apply

We’d love it if you had:

  • Team leader experience, especially when it comes to managing teams of young people. Even better would be lived experience of the unique and often complex nature of challenges faced by young women from culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Prior knowledge and experience of the NDIS.
  • Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds. We focus on being strength-based and use co-design approaches, so experience in this is a bonus.
  • A dedication to building relationships and supportive connections with others in the industry and the ability to advocate for Ethni and our programs.
  • Responsible for the coordinating or delivering projects that have led to positive outcomes for others.

It’d be good if you had:

  • Really good communication skills; both oral and written
  • A tertiary qualification (minimum of a Diploma) in social or youth work, human or community services or other relevant field.

It’s essential that you have (or can get)

  • A current Blue Card (Working with Children’s Check)
  • A current Driver’s Licence
