Spinifex Hill Studio is located in South Hedland with a vision of creating a place where Aboriginal artists from across the region could come and paint and share community and culture. The painting practice of the Spinifex Hill Artists is as diverse as the many language groups the collective of over 100 artists represents.

It comprises Spinifex Hill Studio (an Aboriginal art studio) and Spinifex Hill Gallery (an exhibition space and community programming facility).

About the role

The Senior Operations Specialist is responsible for operations and workforce management, with support from the Chief Executive Officer. With a focus on building a positive workplace culture, strong community connections and sustainable growth across the Spinifex Hill Studio, the objectives of this position are:

• Driving sustainable management of the Spinifex Hill Studio facilities and operations.
• Maintaining artwork sales, diverse income streams and key funding partnerships to support sustainable financial growth.
• Managing Spinifex Hill Studio’s budget and contributing to financial and organisational planning
• Leading, coaching and empowering the Spinifex Hill Studio staff
• Collaborating with the Senior Development Specialist to ensure oversight of all functions of Spinifex Hill Studio.

Who we are looking for

To deliver the objectives of this position, you will need:

• Tertiary qualification in arts, arts management or culture (or equivalent)
• At least three years’ experience in a management or leadership role, preferably across diversified services or facilities
• Current, or ability to obtain, a Working with Children Check
• Current within one (1) month, or ability to obtain, a National Police Clearance
• Current and unrestricted C Class Drivers licence
• Ability to work at the Spinifex site in South Hedland
