Community Engagement Manager

Generation Australia
  • Type: Permanent
  • Location: Flexible, east coast preferred

Are you experienced in developing relationships with First Nations community organisations?

Generation Australia transforms education to employment systems to prepare, place, and support people into life-changing careers that would otherwise be inaccessible. We believe that working closely with First Nations communities is crucial to achieving this mission in Australia. We have recently committed to supporting at least 50 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people into tech careers by 2022. In service of this, we have developed a successful partnership with Tauondi Aboriginal College to help refer Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students into our programs and establish culturally relevant support mechanisms throughout their study.

We are seeking a talented Community Engagement Manager to continue this work and establish relationships with First Nations organisations in every state we operate, to ensure we reach and exceed our goal by 2022. This position will also help support our Business Development team more widely in connecting with community organisations and employment service providers to ensure students are connected with our programs. You will report to the Head of Programs and work closely with the Business Development team.

This position is only open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants.*

ABOUT YOU

You are energised at the thought of supporting people into employment. You have experience working closely with First Nations community organisations and establishing meaningful partnerships. You are results-driven and comfortable working independently to a given brief. You have outstanding interpersonal skills and understand how to build relationships that deliver value to all parties. You are a persuasive communicator and comfortable presenting to executive level and large groups. Most importantly, you believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to have a meaningful, sustainable career.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Identify key First Nations organisations in each delivery area and establish connections

  • Create formal partnerships where appropriate to refer students to our programs and provide appropriate support mechanisms during study

  • Establish relationships with other community organisations and employment service providers to help sustain pipeline of students across all programs

  • Work with regional managers, area managers and case managers to ensure they clearly understand the eligibility requirements, referral pathways and timelines

  • Work closely with Program Coordinators to ensure referrals meet targets and programs run at full capacity

  • Work closely with our Indigenous Advisory Board to create a roadmap for our continued commitment to increasing employment opportunities for First Nations people

ABOUT GENERATION

Worldwide, more than 75 million young people are unemployed. But many employers can’t find people with the skills they need for entry-level jobs. Generation was created in 2014 to help bridge this gap—at speed and scale.

We’re building a skills-training methodology that can serve hundreds of thousands, and eventually millions, of people a year. And we’re building proof that this training creates real business outcomes for employers, and lasting career impact for trainees—so everyone has the incentive to invest in skills. Our goal is to help our students achieve personal and professional success—and fundamentally change their life trajectories. Generation programs prepare unemployed or underemployed people for jobs in four sectors: healthcare, technology, retail/sales, and skilled trades. Today, Generation is active in thirteen countries with over 38,000 graduates with diverse social, economic and labour-market contexts.
