We are seeking a Specialist Family Violence Practitioner within our Refuge team! This role is a SHADS Level 5.1 ($97,849.05) pay point dependent on experience, plus superannuation, plus $15,990 salary packaging.

We are seeking a full-time Specialist Family Violence Practitioner within our Client and Residency Management team! This position is responsible for the delivery of a range of client-focused family violence case management services to women and children residing in refuge and medium-term housing.

Following risk assessment and safety planning, this position is responsible for developing case management plans, in collaboration with clients, which include facilitating access to medium term to long term housing and other required support.

Reporting to the Refuge Team Leader, the responsibilities of this role include:

  • Managing an agreed load of client cases, that includes developing and reviewing case plans which reflect client goals within expected service delivery timelines, including brief and longer-term responses.
  • Undertaking comprehensive risk assessment and safety planning processes using the tools contained within the Family Violence Risk Assessment and Risk Management Framework.
  • Working collaboratively with external service providers to provide an integrated continuum of support to victim survivors.
  • Providing crisis support and advocacy for victim/survivors (inc. children and young people) experiencing family violence.
  • Identifying and responding to intersecting factors of socioeconomic status, culture, geography, age, disability, sexuality and gender identity, which impact on the experience of victim survivors.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in social work or related discipline as per the Minimum Mandatory Qualifications.
  • Proven experience and knowledge of theoretical models and frameworks relevant to family violence and sexual assault.
  • Experience effectively managing competing priorities.
  • Proven experience in collaborating effectively within a team, cross-functional and with external agencies.
  • Strong ability to exercise initiative and judgement in complex situations.
  • Sound judgement to proficiently manage own workload in a timely manner.
  • Proven abilities to operate effectively within a complex and fast-paced environment.
