About the Board Member roles

We seek motivated and energetic individuals to join the voluntary Board of Management. The Board of Management conduct monthly meetings to assist in the strategic planning and direction of the organisation. These meetings can be attended in person or remotely.

As a Board of Management Member, you will undertake several tasks, such as:

  • Attending monthly meetings,
  • Reviewing and contributing towards Board papers,
  • Assisting in the ongoing review and monitoring of business practices,
  • Understanding the application of industrial and regulatory bodies such as the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) to George Gray Centre

In particular but not limited, we encourage applicants with:

  • Financial acumen with a view to becoming the organisation's treasurer after an extensive handover from the incumbent
  • Leadership aspirations
  • Marketing and/or HR skills
  • Family members who have an intellectual disability

About the Board Member Trainee role

The George Gray Centre Board Traineeship program offers the opportunity to join the GGC Board as an observer for a 12-month period. As a Trainee, you will participate in discussions and governance activities without the duties and responsibilities that apply to director positions. This is an excellent opportunity to develop practical and strategic governance skills in a professional, supportive environment.

Applications are open to people who reside in Gippsland.

As a Board Trainee, you will:

  • Be provided extensive support and guidance via an induction process and a mentorship with an existing Board Member,
  • Attend all GGC Board Meetings,
  • Receive training opportunities,
  • Undertake professional development,
  • Attend the GGC Annual General Meeting in 2024 to share traineeship experiences with members and
  • Enthusiastically represent GGC at events and meetings.
