Guthrie House is a community-based drug and alcohol support and transitional service for women involved in the criminal justice system and their accompanying children.

Based on Gadigal land in Sydney’s Inner West, we currently have an opportunity for you to join our dynamic team as a permanent, full-time Case Manager where you will advocate and work with women involved with the criminal justice system as well as out of home care and/or child protection services.

The salary is per the SCHADS Award 2010 – Level 5 with salary packaging available.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Tertiary qualifications in a human-services related field, such as social work, community welfare or related discipline
  • Minimum 2-year Case Management experience
  • A strong commitment to addressing inequalities relating to social justice
  • Excellent motivational interviewing skills and sound knowledge of trauma informed practice.
  • Demonstrated skills in psychosocial assessments as well as person centred case planning, implementation, and review.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of working with pregnant women and women who experience substance misuse who have children in their care.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of issues significant to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, especially those involved in the criminal justice and child protection systems.
  • Awareness and appreciation of issues in relation to child protection, case management and best practice principles for women with alcohol and other drug issues
  • Proven ability to manage a case load of complex clients and work as part of a team dedicated to the well-being of clients.
  • High level oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders
  • Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to attain within 3 months
  • Current NSW Driver’s License

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

  • Experience working in a community-based organisation and/or with women involved in the criminal justice system.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, delivering, and evaluating group work
