About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to oversee Her Heart’s operations, drive revenue growth, and enhance the organisation's visibility. This pivotal leadership role will focus on building partnerships, implementing strategic initiatives, and managing communications, marketing, and fundraising efforts.
The General Manager will work closely with the CEO to achieve Her Heart’s strategic objectives and manage a talented team while fostering a collaborative culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Oversee daily operations, ensuring strategic goals are met.
- Revenue Generation: Secure grants, develop partnerships, and drive fundraising initiatives to sustain and grow Her Heart.
- Partnerships: Manage existing collaborations and create new ones with media outlets, corporate sponsors, and government agencies.
- Communications and Marketing: Develop strategies to raise awareness, amplify campaigns, and increase engagement across digital platforms.
- Team Leadership: Support recruitment, development, and performance management to build a high-performing and cohesive team.

POSITION PURPOSE
The General Manager (GM) is responsible for managing the operational activities to ensure the smooth running of day-to-day functions of Her Heart. They will oversee communications and marketing, manage partnership and also be involved in revenue generation at Her Heart. The role focuses on enhancing the organisation's visibility and engagement while driving fundraising efforts for women’s cardiovascular health initiatives. The GM will also support the CEO in achieving Her Heart's strategic objectives.
GENERAL MANAGER (GM) - POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
The GM will work closely with the CEO to shape and execute Her Heart’s strategic directions, focusing on operational leadership of the team, overseeing partnerships and strategic alliances and integrating communications, marketing and fundraising efforts within broader organisational goals.
Operational Leadership
- Oversee the daily operations of Her Heart to ensure the achievement of business goals and strategic objectives.
- Collaborate closely with the CEO to design and implement business strategies, plans, and procedures within Her Heart
- Ensure smooth communication across the team and with external stakeholders, fostering a positive working environment.
- Measure and report on operational performance, developing plans to improve key performance indicators.
Revenue Generation
- Develop and implement strategies for revenue generation, including securing grants, partnerships, and individual donor support.
- Identify new funding opportunities and secure contributions from diverse sources to sustain and grow Her Heart’s operations.
- Collaborate with the CEO to create fundraising opportunities that align with organisational priorities and goals.
Partnerships
- The GM will manage and co-ordinate current 20+ partnerships, ensuring objectives are met and value is delivered.
- Create partnerships with external organisations such as media outlets, corporate sponsors, academic institutions, and government agencies.
- Ensure collaborations align with Her Heart’s mission and deliver value to all stakeholders.
- Work with the CEO to create potential fundraising opportunities that align with organisational priorities and goals from any Partnerships
Communications & Marketing
- Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies aimed at increasing awareness, engagement, and fundraising outcomes.
- Oversee (and or work with 3rd party providers) around marketing campaigns promoting Her Heart’s initiatives, ensuring that messaging aligns with key organisational goals.
- Build and maintain media relationships, securing consistent coverage of Her Heart’s work in women’s cardiovascular health.
- Leverage digital platforms and social media to enhance engagement and visibility for the Her Heart brand.
People and Culture Management
- Manage all general HR responsibilities that relate to the team
- Assist with recruitment, induction, and development and support of employees through appraisals
- Actively manage individual and team performance to maximize productivity and address any workplace issues.
- Oversee any volunteers, ensuring they are well-equipped to meet their responsibilities.
- Work with the CEO and broader Leadership Team to maintain a positive, collaborative culture aligned with Her Heart’s mission and values.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Support the implementation of Her Heart’s risk management framework, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and funding obligations.
- Work with the CEO & Leadership Team to maintain accountability for legal and financial compliance within operations and communications.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Essential:
- At least 8-10 years of experience in senior leadership roles in the NFP area or in social impact role
- Genuinely cares about our cause & wants to make a difference to women’s heart health
- Some experience in communications and marketing specifically in the area for women
- Proven track record of successfully managing teams, driving organisational growth, and overseeing the development and implementation of strategic initiatives.
- Experience in revenue generation, including fundraising and partnership development.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage complex initiatives with multiple stakeholders.
- Assumes accountability for own conduct and performance, takes feedback well and fosters a culture of responsibility and integrity within the team and the organisation.
- High-level written and verbal communication skills, with experience in crafting compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
- Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development within not-for-profit, health sector or in other relevant industries
- Working knowledge of data analysis and operational performance metrics.
