The Role

The Communications and Advocacy Lead will drive the development and delivery of communications and stakeholder engagement activities, including public and media relations, that promote our client and their activities to key stakeholders and audiences, in addition to supporting the delivery of this organisation’s advocacy objectives.

• Work with the CEO to develop and implement a communications plan to build the national profile in line with the organisation’s strategic objectives.
• Work with the Senior Leadership Team to identify and leverage opportunities to use earned, paid and owned channels to raise awareness.
• Be proactive and innovative in creating positive media stories.
• Work with the CEO to develop annual advocacy plans to support the organisation’s strategic objectives.
• Evaluate and report on media and public relations outcomes.

Skills and experience

To be the successful candidate for this role, you will have the following:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications, media, PR or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience in media and communications, within government, not-for-profit and/or public health environments (not essential).
• Ability to take ownership and ensure accountability of deliverables
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• High motivation and the ability to work independently.
• Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with ability to gain support and cooperation of others.
