About the role

The Culture, Capability and Development Officer reports to the Manager, Learning & Inclusion. They will undertake a range of operational and project activities to support the development and delivery of diverse projects in learning and development, inclusion and diversity, cultural capability and other areas of staff services in the People, Performance and Culture team. This position also plays a key role in supporting IBA’s Galambany (Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander) Staff Network. The ability to achieve results, support productive working relationships, display personal drive and integrity, and maintain a positive and flexible approach to work, are essential, as is broad understanding of the People, Performance and Culture function within IBA.

The Team

People Performance and Culture (PPC) team is part of the People and External Relations Branch, and its role is to support the organisation achieve its objectives through the provision of people services and by building organisational capability.

Duties include

  • Provide secretariat support to IBA’s Galambany (Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Staff) Network, Advisory Committee, and Project Working Groups.
  • Provide project, administrative and logistics support and coordination to the team, to implement and deliver programs, events and initiatives within agreed timelines and budget, performing accurate reporting.
  • Provide a range of specialist and administrative support, including booking training vendors, meeting rooms, coordinating learning calendars, arranging catering, perform research and analysis, draft correspondence, updating and maintaining records and databases, procurement and payment of invoices, ensuring compliance with administrative systems and processes.
  • Provide support, coordination and facilitation of training programs, modules and presentations, in consultation with key stakeholders and partners.
  • Collaborate with managers and staff to identify training requirements, and support staff in the ongoing development of their capabilities and skills, including administer study assistance applications and provide advice to staff and delegate on the Study Assistance Guidelines.
  • Administration of the Learning Management System and the Performance Management process, ensuring it is effectively communication to managers and staff.
  • Build and maintain strong staff and client relationships through communication and collaboration, providing responsive advice and service to support business outcomes.
  • Coordinate and administer IBA’s rewards and recognition program/s, aligning to IBA Values and strategic objectives.
  • Other duties as required.

What you’ll bring to the team

  • An awareness and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and culture as well as the demonstrated ability to liaise, communicate and negotiate sensitively and effectively with Indigenous individuals and communities.
  • A broad understanding of People, Performance and Culture

As well as the ability to:

  • manage competing administrative tasks, report on own progress and achieve results within set timeframes.
  • work flexibly across projects, both autonomously and collaboratively, with a commitment to contributing to a cohesive work environment
  • follow standard PPC processes / procedures, provide advice to other employees on Culture, Capability & Development matters and help to manage risks that could impact the team’s day-to-day operations.
  • use initiative to seek out and complete routine tasks, share relevant information at a team level and provide creative solutions to minor or procedural problems.
  • have functional expertise in a specific area that contributes to team goals, providing advice based on professional knowledge
  • maintain privacy and build trust and credibility as a valued member of the PPC Unit.
  • undertake travel, including overnight absences.
