As Australia's first Women’s Trauma Recovery Centre (the 'Centre') offering long term support to women who have experienced domestic family and sexual violence, we intend to continually refine and improve our services to ensure we are supporting women to live independent, secure lives with hope and optimism.

As we continue to grow and enhance our impact, we are looking for a passionate and dynamic individual to join our team as the Client Support Team Leader.

As the Client Support Team Leader, you will oversee and guide the casework function, ensuring that clients receive high-quality support and services. You will lead a dedicated team, manage complex cases, and contribute to the overall success of our programs and initiatives.

About us:

The Centre is a community-led initiative, co-designed with women with lived expertise, professional experts and service providers to offer free comprehensive and long-term support to women recovering and healing from the trauma of domestic, family and sexual violence.

The Centre is a project of the Illawarra Women's Health Centre. Established in 1986, we are nationally accredited and provide a safe place for women to access specialised high-quality women's medical and health care services.

Where you will channel your energy:

  • Lead our client support team with a strong commitment to our feminist philosophy and practices. Your role will include direct supervision, mentoring, and managing rosters and staff client loads.
  • Oversee risk and safety planning for women accessing our Centre, ensuring their well-being and security.
  • Take charge of managing case management processes to deliver effective and compassionate support.
  • Develop and implement a robust monitoring and evaluation framework to assess and advance client progress.
  • Provide expert case management for victims of domestic and family sexual violence (DFSV), including referral assistance, risk assessments, safety planning, advocacy, and court support.
  • Partner with other organisations and services to offer coordinated social and legal case management.
  • Engage with our multidisciplinary teams through discussions, advocacy, education, and case reviews to ensure seamless continuity of care.
  • Contribute to the development, delivery, and evaluation of the Centre’s programs and services.
  • Ensure your team upholds high standards for client record-keeping, adhering to our guidelines and legal requirements.
  • Participate in regular clinical supervision, administrative oversight, and reflective practice to enhance personal and team development.

About YOU:

  • Bring your expertise with a degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Counselling, and hold or be eligible for membership with the relevant professional association or registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • Leverage your experience in managing complex cases for victims of domestic and family violence, providing essential support including risk assessment, safety planning, advocacy, and court assistance.
  • Utilise your experience in leading community-based teams, from strategic planning and managing workloads to training and performance enhancement.
  • Thrive in a diverse, multidisciplinary environment, working effectively with professionals to support the recovery and healing of women from DFSV.
  • Demonstrate your ongoing dedication to cultural learning and self-reflection on race, privilege, and power dynamics.
  • Apply your knowledge and experience with trauma and violence-informed approaches to drive effective support.
  • Showcase your ability to lead the creation and implementation of programs, ensuring quality assurance and monitoring of clinical outcomes.
  • Draw on your experience supporting women facing various challenges, including domestic violence, sexual violence, substance use, mental health issues, and trauma.
  • Build strong, collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Uphold feminist and social justice principles, aligning with our Centre’s core values.

The nice to haves (desirable knowledge and experience):

  • Bring your expertise or training in delivering somatic-based therapeutic interventions to lead and inspire our team.
  • Experience working with or personal understanding of diverse communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, LGBTQIA+, migrant, culturally and linguistically diverse, neurodivergent individuals, and those with disabilities.
  • If you’re fluent in a community language other than English, you’ll add incredible value to our team’s ability to connect and support a wide range of clients.
