Impact of the organisation

The Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN) is a national network of independent member organisations that give a voice to older people seeking or receiving government-funded aged care services.

The network provides free and confidential aged care advocacy, information and education to older people, their families or representatives.

As a peak body organisation, OPAN works with the government and other agencies to influence aged care policy through systemic advocacy. With a collective vision is of a society where older people are heard, informed and respected, and where they can enjoy and exercise their rights to live fulfilling lives.

Impact you will have in this role

Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of older people? This is your chance to take on a dynamic and newly created role where you’ll plan, develop and design innovative learning activities to support the National Aged Care Advocacy Program (NACAP) and our organisation workplan. Utilise adult learning models to create engaging education forums, particularly e-learning and help drive their established webinar program.

In this role, you’ll develop tailored learning initiatives that positively impact older people and their families, the aged care workforces and their network of aged care advocates.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop learning: collaborate with management to deliver OPAN’s learning activities, plan and implement projects and consult with network members on optimal delivery methods.
  • Collaborate with experts: build and maintain relationships with internal and external subject matter experts to develop evidence-based education content.
  • Deliver webinars: manage all aspects from logistics and engaging subject matter experts to run sheet development.
  • Reporting: provide regular reporting on learning activities to support enhancements
  • Team participation: Actively contribute and participate as a member of the marketing, communications, learning and development team

Skills and Experience

  • Instructional design: expertise in developing, designing and implementing learning activities, particularly using contemporary adult learning practices.
  • E-learning development: Proficiency in Articulate Rise/Storyline for online content creation.
  • Webinar coordination: proficiency in project management and coordination of logistics and stakeholder engagement
  • IT literacy and multimedia skills: strong skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as basic graphic and video editing using tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite and Camtasia
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities
  • Must have a pro-active and can-do attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with high-level attention to detail 
  • A background or knowledge in aged care is highly regarded
  • A genuine love for learning, and passion for making an impact in the lives of older people across Australia
