About the opportunity

Reporting to the Manager; Employee Engagement, Wellbeing and Support you will lead the activities of a small team (3-5) of workplace training and support staff who work directly with employees with a disability (specifically supported employees) training them on day-to-day tasks, behaviours, and skills.

You will:

  • Support, guide, mentor and develop your team to ensure they can provide the best possible experience and opportunities for the supported employees they work with
  • Effectively manage incidents, escalations and issues as they arise
  • Foster an environment of learning and the development of skills not only in employment but also in developing workplace relationships/friendships, growing confidence, determination and resilience
  • Assist in the development and implementation of training, working towards maximising an employee’s potential and performance and participate as required in skills checks on all supported employees
  • Work as a team to ensure employees are rostered into appropriate tasks each day and are supported in training and development
  • Liaise with key stakeholders regarding support and case management services, such as parents/caregivers and care coordinators.

Key Requirements

  • Relevant Formal qualifications (e.g. Community Services/Allied Health/Disability) and experience with people with disabilities and/or other barriers to employment
  • Experience in effectively and positively leading/influencing a small team
  • A working knowledge of the NDIS
  • You are positive and solution focused with skills to support the empathetic and respectful management of conflict
  • You value diversity and build inclusive environments where people experience belonging
  • Effective interpersonal and relationship building skills – with the ability to interact and collaborate with colleagues at all levels of the organisation
  • Competency in MS Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet and various other software applications).
