This is a unique opportunity to work in an exceptional women's health organisation - making a positive and critical difference in women's lives. With a NSW Government one-off domestic and family violence COVID-19 grant, we are seeking an experienced applicant for a part time (2 days/week) 12 month contract position who will provide trauma informed client support at reception.
This front-line position is responsible for welcoming women into the Centre, organising appointments, providing support to clients including: information and referral (by phone or face to face); maintaining resource information; and undertaking general clerical and administrative duties; administration of the client record system and maintenance of data record systems and registers of information.
Description of duties
- Undertake intake process with potential clients to identify initial health and welfare needs; determine any immediate risks to the Client or the Centre and respond or refer accordingly, determine eligibility or appropriateness of services, programs or groups; provide information regarding specific services and programs; provide information about intake/registration processes; and begin developing rapport with the client.
- Provide client with referral where appropriate or necessary.
- Make client bookings/appointments; confirm bookings in advance, coordinate clinic bookings through effective communication with practitioners and clients, to ensure smooth running of clinics; manage waiting lists.
- Assist women to complete the client registration form; enter new clients on the WH database and Medical Director; hand out the new client information package.
- Undertake other general reception and administrative duties as required.
The successful candidate must have:
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to provide respectful and welcoming service to women of diverse backgrounds and life experiences
- At least five years’ experience in a similar role
- Effective listening skills and the ability to provide information to women in difficult situations
- Office and IT skills including medical practice software experience (preferably PracSoft and Medical Director)
- Well developed organisational ability
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
- Feminist understanding/analysis of women’s issues/women’s health issues
The successful applicant will be offered a permanent part-time contract starting immediately. A remuneration package commensurate with professional experience will be offered, based on the SCHADs Award. The Illawarra Women's Health Centre is a union supporting workplace.
