About Us

Galiwin’ku Women’s Space Aboriginal Corporation. is a Yolngu-run organization dedicated to addressing domestic and family violence in the Galiwin’ku and Gapuwiyak Communities, NE Arnhem Land. We blend Yolngu and Balanda knowledge and skills to stop the cycle of violence, providing crisis management and prevention services, including crisis accommodation, that strengthen culture and empower families.

Position Purpose

The Case Manager will work with women and families experiencing domestic and family violence to develop and implement case plans that promote the clients' best interests, ensuring their safety and appropriate development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Engagement: Provide a welcoming and responsive initial contact for clients, address urgent needs, inform clients about available options, and advocate on their behalf.
  • Case Management: Develop and implement GWS Case Management framework, conduct ongoing client assessments, collaborate with clients to create and implement case plans, and regularly monitor and review progress.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and data, ensuring confidentiality and duty of care.
  • Safety: Take preventative action in high-risk situations, identify and record incidents and hazards, and perform all duties safely.
  • Community Engagement: Determine appropriate referrals, assist clients in accessing support services, and advocate with service providers.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify service gaps, recommend improvements, contribute to evidence-based practice, and exceed service user expectations.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as directed by the reporting manager, consistent with skills and experience.

Essential Criteria

  • Qualifications: Social Work preferably or Diploma in community services or related field. Must have a current Ochre Card and be willing to undergo a criminal history check.
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, ability to interact and connect in a cross-cultural environment, and strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Values and Approach: Encourages self-reflection, values management guidance, open and transparent, builds trust through genuine actions, connects Yolngu and Balanda cultures, and shows empathy and compassion.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of domestic and family violence impacts, NGO governance, Case Management frameworks, and experience working in a Yolngu community. Knowledge of Yolngu Matha Language and culture is highly desirable.

  • $85,126 per annum (base rate as per SCHADS Award - Social and Community Services – Level 4 PP1)
