ABOUT YOUR ORGANISATION

Kara Family Violence Service is a specialist family violence service that provides crisis accommodation, transitional housing and outreach support to women and children experiencing family violence.

Kara Family Violence Service is currently seeking an energetic and proactive daytime support worker for our core and cluster refuge. The daytime support worker will provide general organisational support such as shopping, completing SHIP, meeting with contractors, light cleaning and room setup, telephone liaison, support to group facilitators etc. The Daytime Support Worker will be able to accept direction and work collaboratively to provide support to women and children residing in Kara FVS refuge as identified by the specialist family violence practitioner case managing the woman or family.

The successful applicant will be required to work proactively and autonomously, possess excellent communication, intermediate computer skills and be proficient in the collection of data and the creation and filling out of documents.

This position is suitable for someone wishing to gain experience in a specialist family violence service or those undertaking studies in social work or related discipline or someone wishing to re-enter the workforce.

Ideally the applicant will have experience in a similar role.

This is not a case management position and case management family violence support is provided to residents of Kara Family Violence Service by specialist family violence practitioners.

As this is a new position the duties may change over time.

All offers of employment are subject to a six-month probationary period

Award: SCHADS Award- Level 4.

Plus: superannuation and salary packaging

Hours: part time- 3-4 days per week 9.00am- 5.06pm, days by agreement

Duration: Permanent part time

Mandatory requirements:

  • A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Community Services or related discipline or participation in studies is required.
  • Working with Children Check
  • National Police Check (international police check if required)
  • Eligibility to work in Australia
  • Current unrestricted Victorian driver’s license with clean driving record
