The Lucy Saw Centre Association is a not-for-profit organisation providing crisis accommodation and holistic support to women and their children escaping from Family and Domestic Violence. Our organisation currently spans across the south-metro Peel region.

As part of this position you should have solid knowledge and experience of the following

  • Professional counsellor working with women, children and adolescents
  • Deep commitment to and experience in providing trauma-informed care principles
  • Experience working with diverse groups including Aboriginal and Torrest Strait Islanders, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse, Neurodivergent individuals and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
  • Development of group programs and group facilitation
  • Understanding of and commitment to the principles of equity, diversity, continual improvement, risk management and occupational health and safety

Selection Criteria

Essential:

  • Minimum of three years’ work experience in the family and domestic violence sector.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Tertiary qualification in psychology, counselling, social work or related discipline and specialist expertise and experience in Family and Domestic Violence counselling.
  • Understanding the intersection of mental health, substance abuse and homelessness within family and domestic violence.
  • In depth knowledge of contemporary family and domestic violence, including the trauma impacts of gender based violence and abuse.

Desirable:

  • Background in working with diverse communities or lived experience of diversity, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, LGBTQIA+, migrant, culturally and linguistically diverse, neurodivergent individuals and those with disabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in advocating for gender equality and women’s rights
  • Fluency in a language other than English is a plus

REQUIREMENTS

  • National Police Clearance no older than 3 months
  • Working with Children Check
  • Current WA Drivers License
  • A Valid First Aid Certificate (desired.)
  • Proof of right to work in Australia
  • Copies of all relevant qualifications

We have multiple positions available for casual, part time and full time across our organisation between Fremantle and Mandurah. We are looking for someone with considerable experience within the Family and Domestic Violence sector but also encourage applicants newly graduated from TAFE/University within related disciplines.
