The Lucy Saw Centre Association is a not-for-profit organisation providing crisis accommodation and holistic support to women and their children escaping from Family and Domestic Violence. Our organisation currently spans across the south-metro Peel region.

As part of your role you will be involved in:

  • Providing crisis accommodation support and/or outreach support for women impacted by family and domestic violence (FDV)
  • Undertaking risk assessments, in line with the ‘Common Risk Assessment and Risk Management Framework’ (CRARMF) and co-develop safety plans with women.
  • Support women through case plans to achieve their aims and goals in the refuge and/or in the community.
  • Work in partnership with the Police, Department of Communities - Child Protection and other partner agencies such as Co-ordinated Response Teams, Department of Communities – Housing, Department of Justice, Mental Health providers and Drug and Alcohol services.
  • Provide support for women through initial screening intakes, risk management, safety planning and advocacy.
  • Contribute valued team member to the functioning of the multi-disciplinary refuge supporting women and their children.
  • Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of the refuge's, including housekeeping duties when room/units become available.

As part of this position you should have solid knowledge and experience of the following:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Family and Domestic Violence.
  • Understand and applies FDV and trauma informed models, approaches, theories, and practices when dealing with clients.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the impacts of FDV on children, families, and wider communities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the FDV sector including context, principles, philosophies, policies, regulations, and legislation.
  • Client Assessment and Case Planning
  • Understands and applies risk assessment, using the CRARMF and adopts informed safety planning.
  • Uses appropriate information, tools, and techniques to gather and analyse information.
  • Identifies and prioritises appropriate actions, including referral pathways.
  • Supports women to set and achieve goals, by establishing and monitoring an individual case plan.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the physical, emotional, and psychological impact of FDV.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of self-care when working in a crisis service

Selection Criteria

  • Minimum of three years’ work experience in the family and domestic violence sector.
  • Experience in providing crisis support services to women and children, experiencing family and domestic violence.
  • Working knowledge of conducting risk assessments, managing risk and developing safety plans within an FDV response.
  • Sound knowledge and experience in case planning and case management.
  • Knowledge of the family and domestic violence sector and/or the social services sector.
  • Knowledge of court and legal processes relevant to women and children escaping family and domestic violence.
  • Knowledge of trends, professional interventions and issues relevant to family and domestic violence.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • An understanding of the appropriate relationship boundaries with clients and other service providers and the capacity to work within the constraints of the job role.
  • Understanding the intersection of mental health, substance abuse and homelessness within family and domestic violence.

We have multiple positions available for casual, part time and full time across our organisation between Fremantle and Mandurah. We are looking for someone with considerable experience within the Family and Domestic Violence sector but also encourage applicants newly graduated from TAFE/University within related disciplines. As part of this role you will be required to work rostered shifts including nights, weekends and public holidays.
