ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

A unique opportunity for an Enhanced Maternal Child Health Nurse to join a specialist family violence team. This role will support improving the health and wellbeing of children, with a focus on building the confidence in the caregiving ability of the mother/primary carer and strengthening their bonds and relationship by remaining focused on the needs of their children as they rebuild their lives following violence. Some of other tasks may involve:

  • Providing secondary consultation to refuge staff to support broader support planning with the family
  • Coordinating and working collaboratively with a range of services and stakeholders to support women and children reach their goals
  • Providing information, support, and referrals as appropriate utilising a strength based, inclusive and empowering approach which is trauma informed and anti-oppressive
  • Supporting social inclusion with families through community connections, parenting groups, playgroups and the promotion of community programs and resources
  • Developing and facilitating groups to support parenting confidence and the mother child bond in line with broader program goals

This is a fixed part-time until 17/07/2026 0.6 FTE opportunity based in Sunshine, VIC and other locations including outreach within Melbourne Western Suburbs within our Community Services Program. This position reports to Team Leader - Children.

The Salary: $116,584 per annum pro rata + superannuation and salary packaging.
