The Learning Support Worker will support the operations of Marist180’s Skills employment and training programs in Brisbane. Marist180 provides opportunities for disadvantaged job seekers to participate in pre-employment training which will result in sustainable employment pathways.

The position holder will engage closely with job seekers to build capacity, develop skills, and prepare for sustainable employment. The role will demand excellent communication skills, an ability to build relationships, and a pro-active personality.

The position holder reports directly to the Employment and Training Coordinator, Brisbane.

Key external relationships associated with this position will include job seekers, training providers, employers, community service providers, employment service providers.

In supporting and promoting these relationships, Marist180 (M180) expects that the position holder will demonstrate a high standard of professional and ethical behaviour and a commitment to M180’s philosophy, mission and values.

Work Requirements:

  • Working with Children Check/Blue Card
  • Clear National Criminal History Check
  • Unrestricted Queensland Driver’s Licence and car
  • Ability to work in Australia

Essential:

  • A diploma level qualification in community services/teaching or similar or have an equivalent level of relevant work experience, expertise and competence sufficient to perform the duties required at this level.
  • Extensive experience in addressing vocational and non-vocational barriers and an understanding of challenges faced by disadvantaged job seekers in participating in training, skills development and employment opportunities.
  • Excellent communication skills, and ability to engage with individuals of all ages.
  • Timely and well thought out decision making ability
  • Proven ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work flexibly within a changing environment.
  • A high standard of professional and ethical behaviour and commitment to the mission, vision and values of M180.
