ABOUT MARKET FORCES

Market Forces has been campaigning since 2013 to shift finance away from coal, oil and gas - the dirty fossil fuels that are driving global climate change. Headquartered in Melbourne, Market Forces today has a team of 30, some of whom are working interstate and overseas.

Our campaigns focus on banks, superannuation funds, insurance companies and other investors that finance environmentally damaging activities to shift investment towards a clean energy revolution.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Shareholder & Community Action Organiser works with shareholders who are committed to using their money and influence as a force for good, and with grassroots leaders in communities whose human rights are impacted by environmental and climate change effects of corporate action. The key purpose of the role is to support the effective engagement of active investors and active communities in holding companies to account for their sustainability planning and actions, or lack thereof.

ABOUT YOU

You are a focused, highly organised individual committed to action on climate change who wants to deliver meaningful, lasting change to benefit the environment. You have a flair for working with people from all walks of life and delight in playing an enabling role, driving impact through expert technical support for our campaigners and building a movement of activists and supporters.

You are experienced in community organising and engaging key stakeholders (shareholders & community leaders) with strategies for building and shifting power. You are also a skilled administrator who understands the importance of process and the technical aspects of shareholder resolutions and who takes pride in delivering timely, accurate written work. Your tactical savvy enables you to stay on top of the complex campaigns your work supports and meet competing demands at peak times. Developing strong internal relationships with Market Forces campaign leaders will be essential to your success.
