Mary’s House Services is increasing its capacity to provide support to women and children impacted by domestic and family violence, because demand continues to grow for our life-saving services. To enable the CEO, Board and Leadership Team to achieve their strategic goals for growth – including more accommodation for clients, and more expert caseworker support - a new leadership support role has been developed.
The Executive Support Officer (ESO) provides a range of high-level executive support and administrative services to the CEO to facilitate the delivery of CEO-led operations and responsibilities and to support the CEO’s achievement of organisational objectives. The ESO is also the Company Secretary to the Board. This is a pivotal role within the organisation, requiring superior written and oral communication skills and strong coordination, liaison and influencing skills.
The ESO must have the experience and confidence to exercise sound judgement and use a high degree of initiative and discretion in dealing with sensitive matters.
We are looking for someone who ticks the boxes above and has the experience and motivation to work in collaboration with the CEO to ensure strategic projects are implemented effectively, as well as provide excellence and service in executive support. The Company Secretarial role (for guidance only) is anticipated to require on average about 10-15% of a working week.
And you have:
Experience working in a not-for-profit organisation, working as an Executive Assistant or as a Company Secretary is not essential, but will be highly regarded.
This is a permanent position. You will be reporting to the CEO, and to the Board for the Company Secretarial role. You will also work collaboratively with the Leadership Team.
The ESO will provide a range of executive support services to the CEO including, for example, responding to requests for information or assistance and escalating sensitive issues to the CEO; managing the flow of information to and from the CEO; seeking clarification and providing advice and responses; responding to queries, identifying needs, communicating services and redirecting, escalating or resolving issues and writing draft reports.
Fulfilling the Company Secretarial role, the ESO will also manage the flow of information to and from the Chair for compilation of agendas and finalisation of meeting minutes, as well as maintain compliance and record keeping, including for example, ensuring all ACNC requirements are met.
You will also assist the CEO and Leadership Team with the delivery of accurate and timely team meeting agendas, minutes and other Leadership Team activities and coordinate through relevant staff, organisational activities requiring participation, involvement or responses by the CEO, including speeches, participation in events and responses to community members.
Mary’s House Services is a wonderful example of what a community can achieve when it identifies a gap in services and an urgent need for community support. We are a grass roots organisation, providing quality services for women and children who have experienced domestic or family abuse. We offer safety, hope, and empowerment for women and children to rebuild their lives. Established in 2016 as an independent not-for-profit, we innovate to provide support services in response to community needs. Through Mary’s House refuge, the Daisy Centre, and other services, we offer professional support, accommodation, case management services and therapeutic groups to women, while they navigate options before, during and after leaving an abusive relationship.
Please call to speak to the CEO Yvette Vignando on 02 8937 2094 to discuss your interest in this role. Enquiries will be answered promptly and be kept confidential. If you prefer to simply apply now, a position description is available here.
