This role will be Max’s primary support and advisor during sitting weeks in Canberra. They will work closely with Max’s part-time policy advisor to provide input on policy matters, support local and national housing campaign initiatives, and with the Chief of Staff to support the Electorate Office’s strategic objectives.
This role oversees and drives the MPs communications with a focus on media and social media. A strong understanding of Greens housing policy will be essential and experience in political communications, media or journalism will be highly advantageous.
This role will be based in Brisbane and include travel to Canberra during most sitting weeks.
This position is envisioned as a 4 day/week role, however can be full time for the right person (if desired). Any overtime/outside hours work to be compensated with time off in lieu in non-sitting weeks.
The successful candidate must have a deep understanding of Australian politics, a fundamental alignment with progressive Greens values and in particular with the proposed solutions to the housing crisis that Max and the Greens are fighting for.
You must have a commitment to making positive change, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills, professional integrity, and a track record as a flexible team player who is also able to drive their own work independently as required.
This position will be offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984, and employment conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2020-2023, which include;
A probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension by a maximum of two months. All employees are expected to sign a confidentiality and code of conduct agreement before the commencement of their employment.
