About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated and experienced Payroll Officer, who will bring their knowledge and capabilities to assist with delivering an exciting payroll transformation project and take the lead in delivering efficient payroll processing. This is an integral and hands-on role supported by the broader HR & Finance team.
The Payroll Officer plays an integral role in processing fortnightly pay runs and ensuring all processes are executed accurately and in a timely manner across all functional tasks. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this is a full-time role based at Cherrybrook in Sydney’s Northwest, working office hours from Monday to Friday. A hybrid working model could be an option.
In your role you will be responsible for:
- Processing fortnightly pay runs and ensuring all processes are executed accurately and in a timely manner
- Ensuring timesheets are received and approved in accordance with payroll policies, and reporting exceptions to the Finance Manager
- Reconciling relevant general ledger accounts to payroll records, and investigating and resolving differences
- Ensuring all relevant information and records are filed and retained in accordance with the electronic data management system and archive management policies.
- Assisting in the preparation, analysis, reporting and communication of relevant payroll, staffing and financial performance measures to the CEO, Executive and Service Managers
- Monitoring departmental performance in human resource expenditure
- Monitoring and reporting on leave accruals and preparing calculations and information for accounting and management purposes
- Assisting in the preparation of annual financial budgets and monthly P&L and cashflow forecasts
- Assisting in the preparation of long-term financial plans, project plans and service costings.
Essential criteria
- Minimum Diploma qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Payroll, Human Resources or equivalent (Overseas qualifications considered subject to review)
- Membership of an Australian Professional Human Resources or Payroll Association
- Minimum five years payroll experience in an industry that operates a 24 hour/7 day a week roster
- At least five years demonstrated payroll experience in an organisation with multiple service locations
- At least five years demonstrated payroll experience in an organisation with more than 100 staff employed under at least two different award/contractual arrangements
- Practical experience working in an environment with stand-alone Rostering/Payroll software that requires migration into accounting/general ledger software.
- Sound practical knowledge of Australian payroll practices and regulatory reporting standards
- Sound practical working knowledge of payroll systems and software
- Sound practical working knowledge of Australian taxation systems relevant to NFP enterprises, including PAYG, Superannuation and FBT
- Be a team player with a positive, ‘can do’ attitude and a customer service focus
- Read and understand the Inala Vision, Core Values and Principles of the Inala Ethos and have a preparedness to work within the Inala Ethos
- Hold and continue to hold NDIS Worker Clearance and an entitlement to work in Australia.
