Your Opportunity

Are you passionate about creating safer workplaces and enhancing employee well-being? We are seeking a dedicated WHS Wellbeing Specialist to join our team and support our mission of fostering a safer and healthier workplace.

In this crucial role, you will leverage your expertise in SafeWork Australia Model WHS legislation, state-based WHS legislation, and the SafeWork Australia 'Managing Psychosocial Hazards at Work - Code of Practice 2022' to address and manage psychosocial hazards in the workplace.

Collaborating closely with the hiring People Leader, you will ensure reasonable adjustments are made to safeguard employees from physical and psychological conditions. You will play a key role in developing and implementing supported Return to Work (RTW) plans for workers recovering from physical injuries or psychosocial incidents, utilising insights from our Risk and Incident reporting system, WHS Business Partners, Workers Compensation advisors, and HR Business Partners.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Understand and apply SafeWork Australia Model WHS legislation, state based WHS legislation and SafeWork Australia 'Managing Psychosocial Hazards at Work - Code of Practice 2022'
  • Assist with building and driving a psychosocial and wellbeing safety strategy as part of our health, safety and wellbeing strategy, to all business units
  • Build strong relationships and support internal people leaders with implementing preventative strategies
  • Identify via the Risk and Incident reporting system, WHSBP's, Workers Compensation advisors or HRBP's where a current worker requires a supported RTW plan to assist them with a safe return to work after a physical injury or a psychosocial incident that has impacted the worker
  • Ensure that HR/ IR Business Partners are engaged where there may be HR/ IR matters or issues that require advice
  • Maintain and report on regional/ state and business unit data and statistics to the National WHS & Wellbeing manager
  • Contribute data and statistics to Executive and Board reports as required to meet business needs
  • Undertake team meetings with regional/ area managers and their teams to discuss identified hazards, undertake risk assessments and support implementation of controls
  • Support the talent and attraction team (TA) with safety and wellbeing strategies for identified non-work-related injuries for new workers and work closely with the hiring People Leader

Requirements for Success

  • Diploma in WHS or similar tertiary education
  • Counselling/ psychology qualifications desirable
  • Cert IV in Assessment and Workplace Training
  • Experience or a keen interest in working with psychosocial injuries
  • Thorough understanding of Psychosocial hazards, risks, relevant legislation and the Code of Practice: managing Psychosocial hazards at work
  • Demonstrated experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis
  • Ability to build strong stakeholder relationships and influence decision making
  • Existing working knowledge of current health & safety legislation and workers compensation process
