About The Resilience Circle

The Resilience Circle is a non-profit organisation, a new retail innovation. An opportunity shop to sell fashion and home decor and also a supportive location for people to “ Speak easy” with trauma-informed staff dedicated to providing support and guidance to individuals and who need support for their well-being. Proceeds from The Resilience Circle directly support The Women's Resilience Centre, which helps women and their families step out of domestic abuse, providing essential resources to begin their journey to healing and independence. Role Overview

We are looking for a semi-retired management accountant with a strong background in multi-site fashion retail to join our advisory team. This role will begin as a pro bono commitment, supporting the initial setup and launch of our new retail concept, with an ongoing commitment of 2-3 days per week once operations are underway.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in multi-site retail financial management, providing strategic financial insights and mentorship to ensure best-practice financial operations and reporting systems. Reporting directly to the Retail Advisory Board, you will work closely with the Charity Finance Manager to establish high-quality financial processes and reporting standards for our new retail store, including POS, online sales, and other essential retail functions, with an eye on national scalability.

Your expertise in multi-site retail financial operations, management reporting, budgeting, auditing, and compliance will be crucial to the successful scale and sustainability of the Resilience Circle, supporting the mission of The Women's Resilience Centre.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Strategy & Planning: Provide financial advice to support long-term sustainability and growth, ensuring alignment with the mission to support domestic abuse survivors.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Help develop budgets and forecasts to ensure efficient resource use and fiscal responsibility.
  • Audit & Compliance: Ensure financial practices meet regulatory and charitable standards, advising on best practices for transparent reporting.
  • Multi-site Management Insight: Leverage experience in multi-location retail to offer financial advice across various programs and initiatives.
  • Support to Finance Manager: Work closely with the Finance Manager to optimise resource allocation and financial reporting via Xero.
  • Board Reporting: Provide regular updates to the Board on financial health, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Mentorship: Share expertise and mentor junior finance staff or volunteers.

Key Qualifications

  • Extensive Retail Management Accounting experience, with experience in multi-site operations, ideally within the fashion retail industry.
  • Possibly a Semi-Retired professional interested in contributing expertise and experience in advising on, POS reporting financial strategy, audit, compliance, and tax planning for multi-location operations.
  • Familiarity with financial management in non-profit organisations or social enterprises is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial matters to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Experience mentoring junior staff or volunteers.
  • A strong commitment to the mission of supporting women and families overcoming domestic abuse.
