Midland Women's Health Care Place

ABOUT US

Midland Women's Health Care Place (MWHCP) is a not-for-profit, charitable organisation providing subsidised, professional, individualised and group counselling services to women in Midland and Ellenbrook who have experienced or are experiencing perinatal or postnatal depression, family violence trauma, relationship issues, grief, and loss. A range of therapeutic health and well-being group activities proved a safe, soft entry point for health promotion, education, skills development, fitness, and engagement.

Nardine is a women's refuge and the FDV arm of MWHCP, set up to support women and their children who are leaving family and domestic violence. Women and children deserve the right to live each day of their lives free from violence, with respect and dignity, and be treated ethically.

Many of us have been affected by FDV or have family and friends who are or were affected by this. We all come from different backgrounds and have different qualifications, knowledge, skills, and life experiences; we’re all completely different! But the one thing we’re all committed to is creating a safe space for the women and children of our community.

THE POSITION

MWHCP and Nardine are committed to supporting families to thrive, be safe, successful, physically and mentally healthy, and live self-fulfilled lives. Our staff operates along with our team of volunteers who spend some of their time offering our clients their skills, knowledge, support and more. Some of the duties include transporting clients, cleaning rooms, organising donations, playing with children, back-office work etc.

WE ARE LOOKING TO FILL THE FOLLOWING VOLUNTEERING POSITION:

  • You can devote some regular time to helping once a week or at least once a fortnight for a minimum of 6 months.
  • You’ve got a skill set that you can share with our clients and/or their children.
  • You hold a valid Australian driver's license

THERE ARE MANY BENEFITS FOR VOLUNTEERING WITH US

  • Flexible - you can organise your own timetable
  • Life-changing experience - you'll contribute to helping clients recovering from domestic violence, and it will give you a sense of fulfilment and purpose
  • Fun and Positive environment - you'll meet warm and friendly team members who are here to help
  • Good for your well-being and mental health - research says that volunteering can help fight stress, loneliness and depression and can help improve your confidence
  • Share your talents - you can utilise your talent and experience as well as learn new skills in a supportive culture

So, if you’re looking for a productive way to spend your spare time, enhance your resume, and gain extra skills whilst making a difference in our community, this is a great opportunity for you.
