About the job

The primary purpose of the role is to provide therapeutic and intensive case management support to women and families impacted by family, domestic or sexual violence within a holistic service response that operates from a healing informed, strengths based and trauma aware framework.

This position will be based in the central office located in Fitzroy Crossing. This position will work in the centre, and may also require work in outstations, communities and ‘on country’.

This role will be part-time, rotating 2 consecutive weeks on and 2 weeks off. Travel and accommodation is provided. Ideally, you will be living in the Kimberley or Perth with availability to undertake regular travel.

What does a typical day at MWRC look like for a Specialist Caseworker?

The Specialist FDV outreach caseworker is a varied and responsive role that provides wraparound supports for women and families living in the Fitzroy Valley. You will work directly with young women to identify needs, undertake risk assessments, and develop safety plans to improve social and emotional wellbeing. You will receive and respond to referrals and make referrals to other services where relevant.

This position will co-facilitate activities such as yarning groups, cultural trips and other events identified by the community. Clinical supervision and cultural support will be provided. This position adheres to all MWRC policies and procedures, relevant national standards, and professional codes of conduct. Accommodation will be provided as part of this role.

You’ll probably learn how to do much of this over a “yarn and a feed”, or while throwing a fishing line at the river.
