NASCA is seeking a highly motivated leader to fill the position of NASCA Deputy Program Director- Eastern to provide strategic advice and support to the Program Director and CEO in the program area across a cluster of sites within the Eastern NASCA footprint.

The Deputy Director- Eastern will be responsible for the successful implementation and effective management of NASCA Young Women Academies within the Eastern area. The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate exceptional professional skills that are critical to maintaining strong relationships with schools, communities, and students while meeting contractual compliance and achieving set KPIs inclusive of data collection and reporting requirements.

The Deputy Director - Eastern will manage our Eastern Region Teams and Schools in delivering the NASCA program and support the successful delivery and continuous improvement of NASCA programs, benefiting the communities, schools, and students involved. This includes program and project planning, coordination, management and implementation and supportive contribution to the possible expansion and/or development of new NASCA locations within the Eastern footprint.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide executive advice to the Program Director and CEO.
  • Coach and support Team Leaders in their roles with regular travel requirements and overnight stays.
  • Organise and coordinate attendance at events and activities equally across sites.
  • Develop program reports for Program Director - analysing sites that need strategies built to support specific schooling years at school that are struggling or attendance has dropped.
  • Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with Schools, Parents, Community and other Stakeholders.
  • Contribute to Executive reporting through the Program Director for your Geographical location.
  • Ensure all of your sites meet the MDS data requirements in a timely manner and in accordance with contractual obligations with DoE.
  • Facilitating regular meetings and ensuring that communication is consistent to all sites.
  • Meeting with key funding bodies, School Principals and other stakeholders.
  • Community engagement across sites eg AECG meetings, Community events.
  • Liaising with the Program Director about program needs and challenges and providing solution based ideas.
  • Analysing data across the NASCA sites on specific KPIs to develop strategies for
  • Improvement.
  • Managing teams effectively including underperformance in line with NASCA policies and procedures
  • Strong communication skills working with sites across different geographical locations

Must haves:

  • Formal qualifications in a relevant area and/or relevant management experience.
  • A drivers licence.
  • Working with children and AFP clearances.
  • Cross-cultural intelligence.
  • Passion for social justice and equality for Indigenous peoples.

  • Proven ability to lead, manage, and motivate staff to high standards of work.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, meet deadlines and prioritise complex workloads, whilst working autonomously, and to be flexible in a changing teamwork environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and an open clear communication style with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of issues facing Indigenous peoples, and experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and staff.
  • Proven experience with SaaS platforms (eg Salesforce) and data analysis to design strategic initiatives.
  • Strong organisational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.
  • Experience in providing high quality reports to funding bodies such as addressing targeted KPIs and performance against contractual obligations.
  • A Commitment to NASCA values and a deep knowledge of establishing strong relationships with schooling bodies and NASCA stakeholders.
