Northern Beaches Women's Shelter (NBWS) are looking for a quality professional Senior Caseworker, to support women and children in our crisis accommodation service. This role needs someone who has 3 years minimum experience and worked in the community services sector in a related role. The role is 4 days 7 hours per day.

NBWS supports homeless women to rebuild their lives, providing crisis accommodation, support, safety and services for homeless women across Sydney's Northern Beaches.

NBWS provide individual case management, outcomes-based approach, assisting women to access permanent accommodation and community support systems and services.

Our goal is identifying and addressing the underlying root cause/s of each individual woman’s homelessness addressing factors leading to homelessness include physical, emotional and/or sexual abuse; family breakdown; financial strife; domestic violence; addiction; mental health issues and/or lack of affordable housing.

Primary purpose of the role

  • To empower women and children.
  • To provide high level case management to clients accessing the NBWS service.
  • To case manage and creatively respond to the needs of people from a variety of backgrounds and with a range of behaviours.

Qualifications, Experience and Abilities Required to Fulfil the Role

  • Tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, community development or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years working as a senior support worker in a refuge or shelter.
  • Client management data system experience.
  • To be, and to remain during employment, vaccinated against COVID-19.
  • NBWS services are provided only to women and their children. NBWS considers being a woman is a genuine occupational qualification for this position under section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW) and section 30 of the Sex Discrimination Act 1984 (Cth).
  • Current NSW Drivers License.
  • Current Working With Children Check
  • Current satisfactory criminal records check.
