The Organisation

Rewiring Australia is a dynamic, rapidly growing start-up not-for-profit. Since July 2021, Rewiring Australia has reframed the climate debate towards abundance and optimistic consumer action Rewiring Australia is the Australian part of an international network of climate organisations pushing for rapid emission reduction through electrification, reducing energy bills for consumers.

Rewiring Australia is a research and advocacy organisation that uses data-driven research to demonstrate the financial, health and environmental benefits of electrifying homes and businesses. The organisation engages in direct advocacy and has a growing network of community groups taking local action.

Last year, Rewiring Australia’s advocacy resulted in $2.0 billion in government funding to accelerate electrification. Rewiring Australia is planning revenue growth from our three-year average of $1.1 million to $3-4 million annually. We are working on a $12 million technology demonstration project, and our peer organisations in America and Aotearoa are experiencing rapid growth.

Rewiring Australia was co-founded by Dr Saul Griffith an Australian-born engineer and inventor who has started a dozen companies and shaped the world’s most important climate plan, the US Inflation Reduction Act.

The Role

This is a high impact role for a dynamic, mid-career fundraising or ethical sales professional looking to gain senior-level experience. You will promote the world’s most optimistic and actionable climate strategy and work with influential experts and founders Saul Griffith and Dan Cass.

The role reports to the executive director, Dan Cass and you will manage a supporter relations associate. In the role you’ll develop and implement the fundraising strategy, building on existing, and developing new relationships with large and small donors including foundations family offices and individuals.

You will also be expected to:

  • Steward existing donors ensuring gift processing and compelling communications
  • Identify and develop strategic partnership with corporate partners
  • Manage systems including databases and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Manage intimate events, coach spokespeople and produce materials
  • Write and implement short and long-term plans across fundraising segments

Skills Required

This role would be suited to a confident and driven fundraising/advancement/development/sales executive with experience working with trusts, foundations and individual donors. You have had success in contributing to the growth of an organisation’s philanthropic profile and revenue, identifying and stewarding donors, writing winning grant applications, negotiating sponsorships or partnerships, combined with the ability to develop fruitful stakeholder relationships.

You have a personal and professional passion for saving the planet and playing a lead role in stopping the climate crisis. You will be a credible communicator with the desire to contribute to the Rewiring Australia cause.

You also bring the following experience to the role:

  • Writing, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with grant applications and acquittals
  • High levels of organisational, time management and problem-solving skills
  • Ideally experience in delivering highly targeted intimate events
  • Networks within Australian philanthropy
