About the Role

The Payroll team are part of the People and Culture team at the Northern Land Council, a team dedicated to managing human resources, fostering positive workplace culture, and supporting employee development and engagement to align with the organisation's goals and values.

The Senior Payroll Officer, reporting to the Coordinator, will be primarily responsible for overseeing and executing our payroll processing for staff and council members in accordance with our legislative requirements and operational timeframes and standards. This role also plays a key function in assisting with the training and development of other HR / payroll officers and driving a customer focused service approach for our staff and internal stakeholders.

What you will Bring

You'll have a solid understanding of Australian payroll regulations, tax legislation and superannuation. This will be coupled with a demonstrated understanding of confidentiality, compliant record keeping practices, attention to detail and accuracy. One of your standout qualities will be the ability to simplify complex payroll information in order to share it with diverse audiences.

In addition to this, you will have: -

  • Diploma of Payroll Services or equivalent qualification and/or experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years payroll processing experience in complex operational environments
  • Previous experience in medium to large sized organisations
  • Experience in using payroll system such as iChris or similar systems is a plus

  • A minimum annual salary of $76,978 (negotiable based on experience) plus 14% superannuation and district allowance

  • Generous leave entitlements such as 5 weeks annual leave, 18 days personal leave per annum and paid Christmas shut down
