About the Role

The Workplace Relations Business Partner (WRBP) is a newly established position within the People & Culture team that is responsible for supporting the NLC to shape a positive organisational culture and driving transformational change.

You will partner with internal stakeholders to influence and provide expert advice on best practice people management strategies, employee relations and other matters relevant to the employee life cycle. This position is also integral to supporting and fostering a people-centric leadership model and will actively engage with Supervisors and employees across the organisation.

About the NLC

The Northern Land Council (NLC) was established 50 years ago under the Aboriginal Land Rights (NT) Act in 1976, to assist Aboriginal people in the Top End of the NT to acquire and manage their traditional lands, waters and seas. We are committed to enhancing Aboriginal peoples social, political and economic participation by supporting their aspirations and amplifying their voices on a range of issues impacting on their lands, seas, culture and communities.

What you will Bring

  • Business partnering knowledge and experience, coupled with strong stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proven ability to project manage, contribute to transformative initiatives whilst promoting contemporary and culturally safe practices.
  • Attention to detail with sound organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • High level cross-cultural, interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

In addition to this, you will have: 

  • Diploma of Human Resource Management or Bachelor degree in Human Resource Management/ Business Administration. or equivalent experience or a combination of relevant qualifications and experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working at in a HR generalist role, along with a strong interest in Workplace Relations.
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence and the ability to travel remotely via 4wd and light aircraft.

  • This position is classified under our Enterprise Agreement at Professional Officer 2 (PO2), with a commencing base salary of $78,724 per annum.
  • In addition to base salary, you will receive:
  • 14% superannuation;
  • District allowance starting at $2,539 per annum
  • Upon completion of 12 months of service an Annual airfare with a net (in hand) value of $2,724;
  • Generous leave entitlements such as 5 weeks annual leave, leaving loading, 18 days personal leave, and paid Christmas close down;
  • Salary packaging benefits of up to $15,900 and additional Meal Entertainment and Holiday Accommodation benefits up to $2,650 per year.
