  • Exciting opportunity in a unique social enterprise

  • Generous leave entitlements

Tjanpi Desert Weavers (Tjanpi) was initiated by NPY Women’s Council in 1995 in response to an expressed need by Anangu women for meaningful and culturally appropriate employment. Since 1995, Tjanpi (meaning ‘dry grass’) has evolved into a vital and dynamic Indigenous social enterprise of NPY Women’s Council and enables women on the lands to earn a regular income from selling their fibre art.

We are now recruiting for a Creative Development Officer to join the Tjanpi Desert Weavers team. This role is responsible for the creative development of fibre artists to ensure fibre work is created for both the retail economy and the contemporary arts market.

The ideal person will have experience in community enterprise development; preferably, you will have an arts and or Indigenous focus. Ideally, you will have previous experience working in a cross-cultural environment and are able to demonstrate a commitment to the empowerment of Aboriginal women on the lands through the facilitation of artistic, cultural and economic development.

This is your opportunity to make a real impact alongside a dedicated, skilled and supportive group of people. The organisation is committed to working within the NPY lands for the benefit of Anangu people in the region and you will work in an environment and landscape unique to Australia.

In addition to this, we offer a generous remuneration package. You will receive an above award salary, additional superannuation, salary packaging benefits, 32 days of annual leave, 15 days of personal leave (to care for you and your family) and a retention bonus. We also provide NPYWC accommodation and use of a company vehicle.

Please note this position allows for 3 months unpaid leave from 1 December – 29 February to avoid work in the hot summer months.
