Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Council was founded and is still led, governed and directed by women from the NPY region. It was created to give a voice to women across 26 desert communities in the cross-border regions of Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory. Today, we continue to provide progressive, innovative and evidence-based work in service delivery, advocacy and support.
The Finance team is a critical support service to our organisation and is responsible for all invoice payments, salary payments and budget preparation. The department also ensures the organisation complies with a variety of external financial regulations by preparing periodic reporting for a number of external institutions.
We are now recruiting for an experienced Senior Accounts Clerk to join the organisation and be part of our Business Support Program on a 6 month fixed term contract. You will have experience and understanding of payroll and accounts processes with formal accounting or bookkeeping qualifications, or extensive demonstrated experience. You will be a self-starter who is able to multitask efficiently and under minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will also be a friendly and confident individual who interacts well with others and pays excellent attention to detail. Frequent telephone contact with both internal and external stakeholders is a priority and important to this role.
Supporting the Finance Manager, this position is responsible for providing training to, and assisting, the Payroll Officer and Accounts Clerk. In addition, the position will assist in implementing and maintaining an effective financial management control system for NPYWC through planning, budgeting, controlling, monitoring, analysing, interpreting and reporting on financial data, and ensuring all financial transactions are processed in accordance with the relevant financial regulations, standard accounting principles and NPYWC’s policies and procedures.
You will have at least three years’ experience in a similar role with a relevant qualification from a recognised institute. You should be a friendly and confident individual who interacts well with others and pays excellent attention to details.
