A long established, well known and expanding community service in Townsville, The Women’s Centre has been advocating against gender-based violence for over 40 years! We have now received significant new government funding to enhance this work in our community.
An exciting new opportunity to lead a team of Women’s Health and Sexual Assault Support Counsellor - Advocates in a highly recognised organisation in the human services industry with a supportive team of professional women is now open for applications.
North Queensland Combined Women's Services Inc. also known as The Women's Centre, comprises a Sexual Assault Support Service, a Specialist Homelessness Service and a Women’s Health Service that provides holistic, wrap around counselling, support and advocacy responding to women’s health and wellbeing including women who may have experienced trauma, including sexual violence and domestic violence. This role also includes a very unique opportunity to work in the Sexual Assault Response Team – Townsville Region, alongside other community leaders and professionals in police, hospital, forensics and prosecution to provide best practice, 24 hour, holistic responses to victim-survivors of sexual violence of all genders.
Suitable applicants require social work, social science or psychology tertiary level qualifications. Skills and experience in the areas of sexual assault and domestic and family violence, counselling, mental health and advocacy is essential. It is also a requirement of this position to participate in our 24 hour on-call roster as a part of the Sexual Assault Response Team.
